The science of Tajweed is considered among the grandest and most eminent of sciences, because of its association with the Holy Qur’an, with which the Muslims worship Allah (the Exalted) and draw nearer to Him. Since Allah (the Exalted) is Beautiful and loves beauty, the recitation of the Holy Qur’an must also be precise and beautiful. When the Muslim deals with Allah (the Exalted), he must endeavor to draw nearer to Him through the finest, the most beautiful and the best ever. There is nothing finer, more beautiful or better than the Messenger’s way of uttering the words of the Wise Book.
Objectives of the Program:
- Studying all the rules of Tajweed theoretically and applying them practically by exercising the sound recitation of the Holy Qur’an.
- Acquiring the ability to recite the Holy Qur’an a sound recitation free from linguistic and verbal errors, and following the fixed rules of recitation.
- Enabling the student to beautify the recitation with intonation and Tarteel, which casts the sensation of awe and humble submission on the heart. The clear and sound pronunciation adorns the recitation and helps soften the heart before the verses of Wise Qur’an.
This program includes three levels, through which all the topics of Tajweed are taught. There is also a special program for teaching Tajweed to children.
Levels of the Program:
Level 1:
- The merit of reciting the Holy Qur’an and learning Tajweed
- The pronunciation and attributes of letters
- The provision of Isti’adha and Basmala
Level 2:
- Vowelless consonants (Noon / Meem / Laam)
- Madd (Lengthening) and Qasr (Shortening)
- Tafkhim (Emphasis) and Tarqiq (Attenuation)
- Clash of two vowelless consonants
Level 3:
- Relations of letters
- Stopping and beginning
- Stopping at the ends of words
- Omission and affirmation
- The Separated and the Conjoined
- What is observed for Hafs
- Conjunctive and Separative Hamzah
